It’s Love – Brewdog & Fallen – Big Raspberry Dog Chew Collab

Brewdog, big raspberry dog chew, fallen brewery, beer review

I’m definitely in love with this beer. In fact, I think I have a bit of a problem as I’ve purchased it in bulk – this rarely happens when I’ve just tried a beer!

So what makes this beer so dreamy? Salted Caramel and Raspberry are two of my favourite flavours (especially in puddings) and surprisingly together in this very beer they are heavenly. I really didn’t think this would work – when I grabbed the bottle I was a little weary of being burned by what had the potential to be a sickly combination.

Originally brewed as part of Brewdog’s CollabFest 2015– Big Raspberry Dog Chew has thankfully now made it to my local beer shop and I’m thankful that I was blessed with tasting this bad boy!

If you like your beers on the darker side and packing an almighty punch then this is for you. I do like a Milk Stout, it’s definitely one of my preferred beer styles of choice. I know you’re probably scared of these flavours but I say just go for it. The raspberry really is delicious and not at all overpowering – I mean I expected this to be like a big sickly pudding! The salted caramel is so subtle that it simply adds another layer of complexity and doesn’t battle with the raspberry at all, it complements it perfectly.

At 10% abv I expected this to be just a bit to brain blowing but actually it was magical. I kept my bottle in the fridge and as it warmed up in my glass the flavour just got better and better. This really is the best beer I’ve tried for an age – a truly exquisite beer, near perfect I’d say. GASP.

In case you aren’t aware of Fallen Brewery, these guys are based in Glasgow (Scotland for my international cousins) and they really aren’t afraid of bold flavours. Fallen already brews up Chew Chew Salted Caramel Milk Stout and I can’t make a comparison of the taste with this incarnation, so if anyone can enlighten me that would be great but I’m keen to try it.

Tasting Big Raspberry Dog Chew means that I’m in danger of becoming obsessed with this brewery…well if i can get my hands on more of its beers!
